Graduated in 1972 from Keio University, Faculty of Economics. Joined Tateishi Electronics Co. (the current Omron Corporation) in 1975. Was appointed a director in 1997 and spent four years managing the company’s local subsidiary in Europe. In 1999, assumed the role of senior managing executive officer. In 2001, was assigned to head the entire Group’s strategy division. In 2003, became senior managing executive office and executive vice president as well as company president of the Industrial Automation Company. Took on the role of director, vice chairman in 2008 and assumed his current position in 2013. Doctor of Engineering.
