Conducting research in artificial intelligence (reasoning, machine learning, deep learning), natural language processing, social network analysis, social media, web mining, and business models. Has published many academic papers in Japan primarily through the Japanese Society for Artificial Intelligence and globally through such organizations as the International World Wide Web Conference (WWW) and the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI). Served as the track chair of the web mining track for the WWW. Currently, is focused on deep learning and joint-research efforts of data analysis with Japanese companies. Is associate professor of the University of Tokyo School of Engineering, Institute of Engineering Innovation (mentor program) / Center for Knowledge Structuring / Department of Technology Management for Innovation, chair for Global Consumer Intelligence at the University of Tokyo School of Engineering Department of Technology Management for Innovation and visiting associate professor at the National University of Singapore.
