Mr. Kimura has been the Managing Executive Officer and Global Head of the Industry Finance Group of Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), a government affiliated financial institution that serves Japanese industries’ global activities, since June 2013. Under his leadership, JBIC’s Industry Finance Group provided a record-breaking Y 2.3 trillion ($ 190 billion) in financing during FY 2013 and FY 2014 for more than 380 overseas business projects by Japanese companies, which include $3 billion M&A finance for Suntory Holding’s acquisition of Beam & Co, $ 2 billion project finance for Rabigh petrochemical project in Saudi Arabia, $ 250 million investments into PE funds and $ 1.5 billion loans for 180 Japanese SME’s’ overseas investments. Mr. Kimura has also been actively engaged in a project to facilitate the partnership between Japanese companies and Silicon Valley companies. Prior to joining JBIC, Mr. Kimura held various senior positions at Ministry of Finance and Cabinet Secretariat covering both international finance and national security issues. He worked for the Inter-American Development Bank as a senior manager responsible for capital market issues. Mr. Kimura graduated from the Law Faculty of Tokyo University. He has passed the National Bar Examination and acquired an approval by Minister of Justice to be registered as an attorney at law.
